On medical procedure or surgery day, it is soothing and reassuring to have the constant support of a Certified Medical Reiki Master in the preparation area and the recovery room, inducing calm while supplying healing energy to you throughout the procedure. Reiki supports clients of all ages undergoing a variety of medical treatments to include surgery, chemotherapy, pregnancy, childbirth, and other serious medical procedures.
Reiki is being administered with positive results in Hospitals, Cancer Centers, VA Centers, and Hospice across the United States, Canada and the UK.
Highly effective as a natural stress reduction treatment, Reiki calms the mind and emotions, releases tension and eases pain while supporting and accelerating the healing process. It helps with fatigue, nausea, and can diminish the side effects of chemotherapy and medications. Reiki provided in pre-op and post-op has been found to stabilize a patient’s blood pressure, minimize bleeding, and limit the need for pain medications following surgery.
What to Expect
On the day of surgery or medical procedure, I will arrive when you arrive and remain with you throughout the entire procedure and into recovery. I will be focused solely on you and providing Reiki through the entire procedure. It is important to coordinate in advance with your doctor/surgeon to gain permission for me to support you during the medical procedure or pre/post-op for a surgery. Please keep in mind that advanced consent is required.
The Impact Medical Reiki Can Have
My experience with Judy Buchanan has been very personal and we have become close friends throughout my 2 year breast cancer journey. She has been here for me as a sister and as my Medical Reiki practitioner through procedures, scans and my latest major reconstructive surgery. I won't go through another procedure, scan, surgery…ANYTHING, without Reiki!
I have to admit, the first time I saw someone getting Reiki I thought it was so weird looking. Then I got on the table and for me personally, it has been such a POWERFUL complimentary tool in integrative oncology! It is potentiating my holistic treatments and making them work stronger.
During the recent surgery, Judy was with me the whole day! It was a wonderful experience! I was able to decline anti-anxiety meds and was completely relaxed, ready and excited to go into surgery. That experience was so positive as compared to my mastectomy surgery 2 years ago when it was just me and my husband.
I was able to wake up very smoothly and came out of anesthesia with Judy right by my side. The side-effects of the anesthesia were GREATLY diminished. My expected stay at the hospital was 7 days and I was out in 3. I was expected to have four drains for 2-3 weeks and I had one drain for only 1 week. I was able to use less narcotics and by week 4, drop all pain medications. My surgeon was astounded with my recovery.
